Find the Perfect Spot

In order to catch a bass, you’ve got to find one first. While it’s not always easy finding a spot where your preferred fish congregate at, bass have the habit of sticking to covered spots. Meaning, if you find a location with some rocks, wood, or even a large ledge, there’s likely some bass just below. Low-traffic boat docks and creeks are also popular bass fishing spots. 

Finding the Perfect Bait 

When choosing your bait you’ll need to consider two factors: how active are the fish, and what food do they prefer? The level of activity is an important consideration when choosing your bait for the day, as bass tend to be a lot more timid on sunny days, and more daring with cloudy skies. Go for a live-moving bait on a cloudy day and you’re sure to get a bite. However, if the sun is out your bass will likely run off at the movement, so we recommend going with a bottom-bouncing bait instead. Next, you’ll need to consider the type of food your fish prefer. Thankfully, bass aren’t picky eaters. While they favor shad and bluegill fish, they’ll eat a variety of prey.
