Reselling a boat isn’t the easiest process, and can require quite a bit of time and patience. To help you get a head start on your sale, we’ve written up a few helpful tips below. Clean

Before you try to sell your boat, you’ll want to make sure it’s in good condition. Start by giving it a thorough scrub inside and out. If you have a cabin, remember to clean carpets and bathrooms, and keep an eye out for any mildew or mold that’s appeared. You’ll also need to take a quick walk around your boat and look for any trash, debris, or personal items that need to be removed. Finally, when washing your hull, be sure to apply a new coat of wax and polish to help your boat shine. 

Inspection

Now that your boat is looking spic and span, we advise taking it in for a quick inspection at your nearest service center. If you have any issues or repairs to complete, be sure to ask your mechanic for an estimate first. Maintenance fees may end up costing more than the boat will sell for, and it’s better to reduce your selling price than pay for repairs. Just be sure to notify future buyers of the model’s issues. 

Paperwork

Be sure to grab your title and registration, as well as proof of any warranties or accident history.
