Whether it’s for work or pleasure, there’s nothing quite like heading out on the water in your very own boat. But the boat itself isn’t everything—there are items and supplies you need in order to stay safe and comfortable. We here at LMC Marine Center want to help make sure you’ve got all the essentials, so we’ve put together some items and supplies you’ll need on your boat. Fishing Boat Seat

Angling from a boat can be rewarding, relaxing, and fun, but only if you’re comfortable while doing it. A fishing boat seat is designed to swivel and keep you cozy so you can cast in any direction and feel good doing it. High-backed designs with high-compression foam padding does the best, preferably upholstered in marine-grade vinyl to prevent mold and mildew. Even if you aren’t fishing, a comfortable seat is still a good addition.

Dry Bag

No matter how calm the waters, no matter how careful your driving, somehow the interior of the boat will get soaked. You’ll need something to protect your valuables, and that’s where a dry bag comes in. That’s a waterproof bag where you can keep electronics, wallets, identification, papers, extra clothing, medications, and anything else you need to stay dry. They come in many sizes, so you’ll be able to find one that’s just right for you.

Dock Line

Dock lines are a must for staying stable and secure at the dock, and you want one that’s durable, dependable, and plenty strong. The type of boat you have will help determine exactly what type of dock line you need. Technology has made it so you don’t necessarily have to worry about sailor’s knots, but you can still learn them if you like! Nowadays, a flexible but super-strong bungee cord rope will most likely do everything you need. Just make sure you get the right length and that it can hold your boat’s full weight.

Personal Floatation Devices

No one, of any boating experience level, should go out on the water without a well-fitted and comfortable floatation device, most likely a life jacket or life vest. They keep you safe if you fall into the water, even if you’re a bit out of sorts. The shock of getting knocked overboard alone can make you vulnerable, but if you hit your head on the way out, you’ll be glad you’ve got something to keep you above the surface.

Life jackets come in all sorts of sizes, shapes, and styles, so you should be able to find one for every member of your crew—even the four-legged kind. Make sure any kids’ vests have a crotch strap to prevent it from slipping off, and update them as your kids grow.

We hope this helps you stay safe and have fun on the water! For more tips, or if you need a boat to put all these things, contact us at LMC Marine Center. We proudly serve the people of Houston and Conroe, Texas—let us serve you today!
